Friday: Colorado Grit 1 @ El Paso Rhinos 2 – Grit pays us a visit this past weekend as we begin the first game of a short 2-game series! Grit took the “Early” game lead deep in the first period with a goal at the 19 minute mark. Goaltender Joey LoVullo holds Colorado at bay for the entire second period, sending us into the third with a 1-0 lead for the Grit. Beckett Hinschliff ties it up for the Rhinos followed up by a goal by Trent Anfinson to give us a 2-1 lead. With no more scoring the Rhinos took game #1 with a 2-1 lead.
Saturday: Colorado Grit 4 @ El Paso Rhinos 0 – Both teams return to the ice as the puck drops for Game #2! The game starts off without a single score being scored in the first, sending us into the second with a 0-0 tie. Luc Bydal puts the Grit on the board with a goal at the 16:44 mark to round out the second period with a 1-0 lead for the Grit. Unfortunately for the Rhinos, Colorado took three goals in the last few minutes of the period as Cade Kozak, Sheldon Rioux, and Ben Rakowski all score. Colorado takes Game #2 with a 4-0 win, splitting the series with the Rhinos.
