Different goalie – same story. Goaltender Ryan Buttazzoni stopped all 11 shots by the Jr. Oilers on Sunday afternoon to give the Rhinos a 16-0 victory. After Buttazzoni gave up one in Friday’s 7-1 victory, goaltender Adam Vay pitched a shutout in Saturday’s 5-0 victory.
Forward Lukas Znosko, who scored twice on Friday night, tallied a hat trick with three outstanding goals. The second of his three came on the power play off of a beautiful feed from forward Martin Hanl. Znosko was not the only player to score multiple goals during Sunday’s high scoring affair – five others would score two goals.
Forward Marek Langhammer opened the scoring in the first period when he came streaking into the zone with a quick wrist shot and followed up by putting the rebound in. He would later score on a nifty wraparound at 7:32 of the third period. Forward Vojtech Zemlicka had two power play goals in the game. On the day, the Rhinos scored five goals on a total of eight power plays. Forward Gavin Abbott had one of the power play goals. He also tallied on a nice put back of a rebound at even strength at 9:42 of the first period.
Defenseman David Brancik would score two goals as well. For his second goal, Brancik notched a power play goal at 15:58 of the second period off of a beautiful pass from new forward Karson Frisk. While two men got tied up in the crease and fell down, Frisk lifted the puck over the two and right onto the tape of a streaking Brancik. The newest Rhino Frisk was not done there – he would round out his three point night with two goals, the first of which was an absolute blast from the point after the Tulsa goaltender misplayed the puck to him.
The Rhinos will head to Oklahoma City next weekend to face off with the second place Oklahoma City Blazers.
