Friday: Lone Star Brahmas 1 @ El Paso Rhinos 0 – The first night would see many a shot on goal, but neither team would be able to score in regulation time. While the game would be fraught with penalties and competition, it would still be sent into Overtime. The Brahmas’ Mason Mara finally went on to score in the final 30 seconds of extra time to snatch a 1-0 victory over the Rhinos.
Saturday: Lone Star Brahmas 4 @ El Paso Rhinos 1 – Rhinos & Brahmas face off once more for Game #2 of the series. Both team’s goaltenders would show their prowess in the first period blocking all shots. Headed into second period the Brahmas’ onslaught finally yielded results as Will Laychur scored at just 40 seconds. Tristan Kimmen responded a few minutes later to tie the game at 1-1, but unfortunately this would be the end of the Rhinos’ time in the limelight as the Brahmas turned up the heat. Jacob MacDonald scores at 12:20 to take the lead. A little over a minute later Will Laychur would score his second goal of the night, followed a mere 13 seconds later by a consecutive goal by Ryan Prewitt to put the Brahmas ahead 4-1. The third period was back to scoreless and the Brahmas would take the victory.
