Friday: El Paso Rhinos 3 @ Corpus Christi IceRays 2 – The El Paso Rhinos are on the road this week where they face the Corpus Christi Ice Rays for the first game of the season. The IceRays brought an aggressive early game to the ice as Oliver Stumpel bags the first goal of the night just two minutes into the first period. Michael Casey managed to sneak in another goal for the IceRays in the final minute of the period. Heading into the second period the IceRays would lead 2-0 over the Rhinos, but this was not to last. Tristan Kimmen puts the Rhinos on the board with a goal halfway through the second period, followed a few minutes later by Donavan O’Neil to tie the game at 2-2 going into the third. With the score now neck and neck both teams fought their hardest to secure the victory. Ultimately it would be Jacob Zwirecki of the Rhinos who would snatch victory from the stalemate, scoring one last time for the Rhinos. The night ended with the El Paso Rhinos up 3-2 over the Corpus Christi IceRays,
Saturday: El Paso Rhinos 2 @ Corpus Christi IceRays 1 – The Rhinos & Ice Rays took to the ice once more for the second game of the series on Saturday looking to keep the excitement going. Hot off yesterdays game, both teams fought relentlessly to gain any advantage in the first period. Unfortunately neither team would be able to score in the first leg of the match. Mike Marquez broke the silence by scoring a goal for the Rhinos at the 2:27 mark to tip the scales in their favor. The IceRays retaliate with Michael Casey taking a shot to tie up the game at 1-1 in the second period. The final leg of the game was hard fought as we find ourselves once again with the game knotted up at 1-1, pushing the game into overtime. As the clock ticks on it would be Bo Cosman of the Rhinos to put the final point on the board to earn the Rhinos their second victory.

The El Paso Rhinos will be on the road once again next week as they face off against the Lone Star Brahmas.
