Just before the deadline, head coach Cory Herman snagged two more goaltenders and another forward.
For the past four years, Bryce Fink has been the Seattle Totems starting goaltender for the past four years. Since the beginning of the season, he has posted 10 wins and logged over 1500 minutes. Herman has confidence in Fink’s ability and his experience, “The number of shots he receives per game and his stats really reflect on how good of a goaltender he is. He also brings a lot of leadership to our team.” Now former Rhino Olivier Gervais will head to Seattle to close out the season with the Totems. In seven games, Gervais had over 400 minutes and a save percentage of 0.913. The Gervais- Fink trade also included future considerations for Seattle.
Cameron Madrid, a high school junior from Achiever Academy in Vadnais Heights, MN, has only had one loss in his last eleven games. With a goals against average of 2.95 and a save percentage of .896, Herman is excited about youth. “He is a very young goalie and has a lot of potential. He is very athletic and brings depth to our goaltender position.”
Jiri Pestuka, the last in the trio of new Rhinos, arrived in El Paso last Friday. “He brings a great work ethic to our team and good depth. He’s acclimating quickly,” Herman notes, knowing how taxing his style of play can be to new players.
