After Ravi Chhabra started the scoring for the Hawks just 34 seconds into the game, Zach Hale started the avalanche of eight straight Rhinos goals with his power play strike at 8:17.
Zach Kohn tallied just 50 seconds later, also on the power play, followed by Austin Balko at 17:24 and Coyneʼs goal to round out the first period.
Jeffrey Schmudlach scored just 1:46 into the second period and Nick Gorup notched El Pasoʼs seventh at 4:07 before Coyneʼs second goal 48 seconds later.
The Hawksʼ Jarred Alford broke the eight-goal string at 5:53, but Sean Molina would give the Rhinos would get their seven-goal margin back a mere 16 seconds later.
Eric LaBounty was El Pasoʼs final scorer on the power play at 11:17 of the third period before David Heeps got one back for Dallas at 14:03.
Backup goaltender Anthony Natali (5-0-0) gets the win, stopping 19-of-22 Hawks shots despite a rather quiet night in the El Paso end.
The Hawks (3-5-0, 6 points) never managed shot totals in double figures for any single period.
The two teams round out their three-game series Sunday evening at 6 p.m. MDT in Dallas.
El Paso also went 4-for-11 on the power play and held the Hawks on each of its three penalty kills.
After a month on the road to start its season, El Paso finally has its first games in the Sierra Providence Events Center next weekend, a three-game series against the Tulsa Rampage beginning Friday night, October 19th at 7:00 p.m. MDT.
