Rhino Alumni Play NHLers at World Championships

05/08/2016 8:43 AM -

In Hungary’s 7-1 loss to Canada this morning, Rhino alumni Krisztian Nagy and Adam Vay both saw ice time against notable NHL players. Canada’s roster includes Boston Bruins’ Brad Marchand, Connor McDavid and Taylor Hall of the Edmonton Oilers, Colorado’s Matt Duchene, Derick Brassard of the New York Rangers, and the Buffalo Sabers’ Ryan O’Reilly.

Despite stiff, experienced competition, Nagy, the 21 year-old Budapest native, was able to launch one shot against Avalanche netminder, Calvin Pickard.

In the final period, Hungary’s starting goalie Zoltan Hetenyi was pulled after allowing six goals. Vay followed up with just over 27 minutes of ice time, during which he made eleven saves. Oilers forward Taylor Hall was the only player to get a shot past Vay while the former Rhino was in net.

Hungary takes on France on Tuesday. They will then play the United States on Friday (5/13) at 7:30 am and the game will be telecast on the NHL network.
