Rhinos Look to Continue Success
Feb. 03, 2012
Phoenix, AZ – With another weekend comes another series for the El Paso Rhinos. Coming off an impressive yet expected series sweep against the Park City Moose, it seems as though the Rhinos can’t go into Phoenix without any other thought than expecting another dominant weekend. The Phoenix Knights have struggled to put up any sort of resemblance to the Polar Bear franchise they replaced; they sit at the bottom of the Western Conference, barely scraping up a measly 21 points thus far. Unless the Rhinos implode, this weekend should be no problem for the Mid-West leaders.
Last weekend El Paso saw many different contributors to their campaign in Utah and this weekend in The Grand Canyon State. In fact, there is a good chance that it would be an upsetting weekend for the Rhinos if they don’t put up double digit goals in each game. Not to say that it is ever a good thing to run up the score, but what is important is that while the black and orange are on this somewhat less competitive schedule (playing New Mexico, Park City, Phoenix, and Texas), it is important that they do not play down to their opponents. They have a five week block of playing losing teams and the worst that could happen would be to overlook them.
In Park City, the issue wasn’t overlooking the Moose, but rather becoming undisciplined against an antagonistic team. This weekend may not be the same story as the Knights are somewhat mannered. They like to play a slower paced game and not get too hyped up with taking stupid penalties. If El Paso plays their game, this should be another easy series.
