Thorne Cup Champion Florian Seelmann becomes this season’s first former Rhino to sign a professional contract.
Seelmann will lace up his skates for the Höchstadt Alligators, a professional team in Höchstadt, Germany, that plays within the Oberliga Süd, a tier three German professional league. The team is comprised of German and Czech players of which Seelmann is currently the youngest. Throughout the season, he will play alongside his brother, Philipp Seelmann, who is also a forward for the Alligators.
The German forward started the season in the WSHL with the Casper Bobcats where he posted 13 goals and 20 assists in 23 games. Following the mid-season break, Seelmann was traded to El Paso to play the final 19 games of his junior career. During his time in Rhino Country, he earned seven goals and eight assists for a total of 15 regular-season points. His three playoff points came during the Thorne Cup Finals in Ogden, where his assists helped the Rhinos to their second Thorne Cup Championship in two seasons.
